Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Competence Lead based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:

* Develop, implement and promote the Company competency processes (Competency Assurance Management System, OPERCAP/OPERCAP+, etc.) for staff across all operational sites (including operations, wells, drilling etc) ensuring adherence with all industry and company standards.
* Manage 3rd party subcontractors so that they remain compliant with the approved Competency Company or industry approved standards.
* Chair the Management Steering Committee for competency and ensure feedback is shared with Senior Management.
* Ensure that we satisfy the demands of the various safety cases and Control of Major Accidents Hazards (COMAH) requirements.
* Manage the organization and deliver of annual competence assessment plans to the offshore workforce in coordination with line managers.
* Ensure Company has a common competency process for staff across all operational sites and onshore safety critical roles; onshore key technical roles are to be defined and included in this scope.
* Ensure all sub-contractor organizations have a suitable competency process in place to demonstrate site competency. Arrange appropriate audits by third parties.
* Chair the Management Steering Committee for competency and ensure feedback is shared with Senior Management.
* Contract representative for outsourced competency assessment support. Managing budgets and forecast costs for related activities in conjunction with line managers.
* Manage assessment planning, supporting assets to identify requirements and scheduling of support to maximise efficiency and cost.
* Ensure processes are documented and maintained within the Company Management System.
* Ensure competency profiles, and records of assessment, are maintained appropriately in SkillsVX (software) by the training team.
* Provide regular high level management competency reports to senior management including past and future highlights.
* Manage/support closure of competence related audit actions.

Experience & Qualifications:

* Relevant experience in technical competency assessment or industrial site technical role.
* Able to demonstrate familiarity with operational, technical and safety/business critical areas in order to gain respect of the technical shareholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a sound business case for training and development initiatives.
* First class organisational skills.
* Having a recognised competency assessment qualification would be of benefit. If the holder does not have then should be prepared to train accordingly.
* Knowledge and understanding of leadership and management skills within the context of the oil and gas industry.
