Job description

Our Client is a global leader in engineering, project management, and consulting across a wide range of industries. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join their team in Qatar on a long-term basis.

This is a key role within the Doha office, where you will be responsible for delivering projects across various scopes of work, including EPC, PMC, FEED, Pre-FEED, Concept, and Feasibility.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Technical Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Executing project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, while meeting the man-hour, cost, and project schedule targets.
  • Performing safety study assessments and generating project deliverable documents using techniques, spreadsheets, databases, and proprietary software.
  • Preparing design deliverables, including philosophies, reports, studies, specifications, data sheets, and drawings, while following all applicable operational procedures.
  • Coordinating and liaising with other engineering disciplines to ensure the incorporation of their input into the deliverables.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant specifications, as well as applicable national/international regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Reviewing and approving vendor documentation related to the discipline.
  • Providing technical information to Purchasing and Estimating Departments for obtaining costs and availability of Technical Safety equipment and materials.
  • Maintaining effective interfaces between the Technical Safety project team, other disciplines' teams, client representatives, and third parties.
  • Representing the Technical Safety discipline internally and externally on design issues.
  • Providing progress reporting and forecasting input to the Lead Technical Safety Engineer.
  • Following standard working procedures and ensuring compliance with relevant QA/QC systems.

Skills/Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in an appropriate engineering subject.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in safety engineering in the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Experience working within a project team and in an office environment.
  • Participation in project design reviews, such as HAZID, ENVID, and/or HAZOP.
  • Proficiency in using Technical Safety software pertinent to design reviews, such as DNV Phast & Safeti, Gexcon Shell FRED & Shepherd, Sunrise Pipenet, and Schlumberger Flaresim.
  • NGL experience is an additional advantage.
