Manufacturing Engineer - Electrical
The chosen candidate will act as a liaison between manufacturing and engineering departments; They will primarily interact with engineers, assembly technicians, and machine shop personnel. They will create work instructions, test data sheets, and qualification tests for manufacturing use. They will continuously improve products through Product Change Orders (PCO). They will participate in cross-functional teams that perform manufacturing reviews on new designs, tests prototypes to meet design requirements, and perform tolerance studies of mating parts. They will also, as required, attend preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, complete Process and Design FMEA, participate in material review board meetings, and weekly project status meetings.

Job description

  • Specifies, designs, and/or fabricates tooling and test fixtures.
  • Develops and performs qualification test procedures.
  • Investigates and implements alternative manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Troubleshooting electrical devices and PCBAs using DMMs, reading schematics, basic circuit analysis.
  • Recommends design changes to increase product manufacturability and reliability. Manages redline drawings through PCO completion.
  • Generates and maintains work instructions by working closely with teams of technicians to constantly maintain quality documentation.
  • Develops new internal processes and procedures.
  • Organizes interdepartmental teams to achieve manufacturing goals.
  • Assists the procurement department in selecting materials including IC's and other surface-mount devices, connectors, wires and cables, etc.


Requirements

  • BSEE degree or similar
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with electrical and electromechanical components and systems.
  • Experience using ANSI C/C++ or Python.
  • Soldering experience.
  • strong reading and interpretation skills for drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with developing and performing qualification tests for new production items.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical tolerancing.
  • Good communication skills and PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IPC-A-610/620, electrical assembly specifications.
  • 3+ years using PCB design software, Altium preferred. (Protel, Orcad,, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience with PCBA design.
  • Experience with insulation testers and LCR meters.
  • Familiar with building prototype wire wrap printed circuit boards.
  • Background in tooling/fixture design.
  • Knowledge/Experience of PCB fabrication.
  • Familiarity with bills of materials, product change orders (PCOs), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, or manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.
  • Experience with Assembly language.
