Job description

Our Client, a well-established manufacturing business operating in the Highlands of Scotland currently have an opportunity for a Welder / Fabricator to join their Pin Repair Team.

The successful post holder will play a crucial role ensuring the structural integrity and functionality of our Client's products. They will primarily work with aluminium materials, utilising expertise in welding techniques to repair and strengthen critical components.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of the welding equipment and other equipment within the department
  • Removal of pins and welding of pins to the required standard as set out in the departmental Standard Working Practices
  • Welding of aluminium hangers as required
  • Updating and improving department Standard Working Practices and assist with introducing into department where relevant
  • Assist with identifying training requirements to keep own competencies
  • Support other areas of the site by providing welding support, at times when workload and timescales allow
  • Pro-actively seek additional welding work from wider site/ functions when existing pin repair activity is nearing completion
  • Conducting tasks once a suitable or sufficient Risk Assessment is in place and correct brief has been carried out
  • Ensure tools, plant and equipment for tasks are kept in good condition, are safe before use and report any defects to supervisor/team leaders
  • Ensure that PPE and safety equipment provided is used correctly
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and demonstrate a personal concern for safety for themselves, fellow workers and visitors to the site.

Requirements:

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in welding
  • Proficient Arc air gouging, plasma cutting, mild steel and welding
  • Overhead crane training and forklift truck training would be beneficial however training can be provided for successful applicant
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or repair environment is a plus

Qualifications:

  • High school Nationals/Highers or equivalent
  • Welding certifications or relevant vocational training preferred
