Senior Marine Systems Engineer - UK

A Senior Marine Systems Engineer is required as part of the Naval and Marine Operation Team for a European energy company in Hants, UK. The purpose of the role is to support global activities on different projects and to provide technical leadership within the naval and marine operation discipline.

This organisation supports their parent company, a global energy operator, and performs a key role in developing projects and providing expert engineering support to their businesses worldwide. The company has an integrated operations office in Hampshire, South East England.

The company is currently helping to lead their parent operation in the energy transition from traditional business areas with decarbonised solutions such as CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) to innovative projects such as renewables, hydrogen, etc.


Their office is an architect designed, landmark feature building in the South East of England with ample free parking and only a five-minute walk from the mainline railway station. The role is offered on a hybrid working basis.

The main functions of this role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support, review and monitoring of current ongoing projects for new floating LNG and FPSO facilities.

  • Preparation of technical specifications and functional requirements for the marine systems in FPSO and FLNG, during the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) and execution on FPSO/FLNG projects.

  • Monitoring, follow-on and review of FEED and EPC LNG projects and projects marine system equipment/P&IDs/PFDs.

  • Providing assistance to the company during Technical Clarification meetings and projects HAZID/HAZOP.

Candidate's experience should include as much of the following as possible:

  • Specific skill sets and experience in the design of cargo loading, storage and offtake systems, LNG tanks, slop and drain systems, bilge and ballast systems, inert Gas, production required for the position distribution and venting, diesel and gas power generation and their auxiliary systems, fresh water production, compressed air, etc.

  • Candidate must have skills and experience on preparation and review of projects P&lDs/PFDs relevant to marine systems.

  • Knowledge of Classification Society Rules, SOLAS, MARPOL as applicable to FPSO and FLNG would be a major advantage for this position.

  • Experience of working on or monitoring of FEED and EPC LNG projects, Seagoing experience as second/chief engineer, experience in working with Oil Tankers/ LNG Carriers, past Experience as a Classification Society surveyor or Tanker/LNG Ship Vetting engineer.

  • Experience in active participation on project's HAZID/HAZOP is required.

  • OPITO certified for offshore travel would be preferable to cover this position.

  • Expected Duration 12 months minimum
