Job description

The Mechanical Engineer would be part of the Engineering Team, which is responsible for reviewing technical work that will be executed offshore

Key Accountabilities:

- Provide leadership in addressing mechanical design issues with appropriate considerations of safety, quality, operability, schedule, and cost

- Determine risks to delivery of mechanical components and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place

- Ensure engineering quality within the mechanical discipline and advise management of any personal or contactor training necessary to achieve the required quality standards.

- Provide technical input to risk assessments, hazards reviews, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews

- Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to piping and mechanical equipment

- Routinely interact with contractor mechanical engineering project staff, providing mechanical engineering technical guidance and assurance for Projects with strict adherence to approved specifications, design basis documents, and BP integrity management and HSSE principles.

- Interact with other project disciplines, pertinent project teams, and BP specialists to ensure interfaces are properly managed, to ensure an integrated design, and to ensure that BP best practices are appropriately incorporated into the design.

- Review and advise on mechanical engineering deliverables

- Work with the Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, fabrication, installation and commissioning of static and rotating equipment to provide BP technical integrity assurance

- Interface with the identified Operations team members to capture lessons learned and ensure the safety, operability, maintainability and reliability of mechanical systems.

- Provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, and concession requests are properly resolved, and that processes for properly protecting and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the construction process are established and executed. - Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards and ensure such proposed changes are properly addressed through the established MOC system.
