Job description

Our client has a current opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Invergordon.

As part of the Maintenance team the Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician will assist in fault diagnosis and repair activities on key technical process equipment and provide support to production teams on technical process equipment as required. They will work closely with all staff in each area to ensure the smooth running of core business plant, optimising the productivity of machinery, equipment, proactively working to eliminate plant downtime and make improvements to the processes and ensuring the site and facility infrastructure is tested and maintained in accordance with current legislation.

Duties & Responsibilites

  • Completing the electrical and mechanical maintenance within all areas of the plant.

  • Carryout visual inspections of electrical and mechanical equipment, report and repair.

  • Fault diagnosis and repair using and handling appropriate electrical repair and test equipment.

  • To liaise with production personnel ensuring all machinery and equipment is in proper working order.

  • To carry out all maintenance duties in a safe and practical manner.

  • To work with planned Maintenance System to carry out weekly, monthly, 6 monthly checks on all plant and equipment.

  • To keep all areas clean, tidy and orderly.

  • To ensure a quick response to breakdowns and emergency callout situations.

  • Prepare specifications and technical detail to fully define performance on equipment, material, and services.

  • Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis.

  • Ensure that all process changes are documented and controlled using the established change management process.

  • Provide detailed analysis and testing of existing and new engineering solutions and components.

  • Be responsible for incident follow-up, root cause analysis and documentation.

  • Use risk assessments and safe systems of work for execution of all works and develop/review where necessary.

  • Communicate effectively with local management team, site personnel and contractors.

  • Maintaining records of all electrical and controls related inventories.

  • Complete a log of electrical repair, PLC code changes and maintenance works.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified time served dual trained Electrical/Mechanical Engineer with relevant experience in an industrial environment

  • Analytical capacity to identify and address technical issues/opportunities which can impact upon production and quality

  • C&G/NVQ Qualification or equivalent

  • 18th Edition Qualification

  • Experience of motor controls, temperature and pressure sensing and control systems

  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems

  • Experience in troubleshooting installation, fault finding, and repairs

  • Able to read electrical drawings for fault diagnosis and isolation of circuits

  • Computer literate

  • Experience with Boilers and steam systems.Knowledge of working with and relacing/repairing Bearings, belts, chains, pumps, motors, gearboxes and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

  • Knowledge of welding/grinding/cutting (desirable)

  • PLC Knowledge Siemens S7 (desirable)

  • InTouch Wonderware Scada experience (desirable)
