Molecular and Cell Biologist - Precision Medicine Oncology Genomics
Contract Length: 1 year with potential to extend
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Hourly Pay Rate: Commensurate on credentials/experience
Bachelors and Masters candidates - $42-45/hr
PhD Candidates can be considered for $55-58/hr

Orion Group is seeking an experienced Molecular and Cell Biologist for our global pharmaceutical client's Oncology Genomics team in South San Francisco, CA. Work with a trusted industry leader and be a part of cutting edge research that will help save people's lives!

The Precision Medicine Oncology Genomics team is committed to drive translational genomic biomarker efforts for our pre-clinical and clinical stage programs. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated molecular biologist with expertise in genomic methods to join the team support cutting-edge translational genomic research and biomarker efforts for our drug development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform single cell/CITE-Seq experiment and rigorous qualification checking to ensure high quality and reproducible data in a timely manner.
* Interpret and draw conclusions from QC results and optimize assay performance to farther project goals.
* Read relevant literature and adapt novel scientific methodology to advance research in single cell genomics.
* Work in dependently as well as part of a multidisciplinary research team in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Main Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Life Sciences field with a minimum of 3+ years of molecular biology experience or Master degree with minimum of 6+ years of cell biology and molecular biology experiences.
* Broad and versatile technical expertise in molecular biology and cell biology assays, such as DNA and RNA extraction, primer design, qPCR, Gene cloning, RNA-Seq library prep, protein purification, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and flow cytometry analysis.
* Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.
* Good general laboratory and organizational skills.
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills as well as excellence and productivity in independent research.
* Must be proactive and able to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Background in molecular biology and genomics field is desired.
* Proficiency in flow cytometry, cell sorting and single cell/CITE-Seq experiments in academic or industry setting is preferred.
