As the Engineering Manager (EM) reporting to the Sr Project Manager. The prime areas of responsibility will be to project manage and coordinate the multi-project / Multidiscipline engineering effort being executed by the department, in Block 15-1/05 or other development areas as directed.


  • Manage multiple engineering projects through a matrix of disciplines within the engineering team and contractor's offices. These will include but not be limited to, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, piping, controls and flow assurance engineers. Provide support and guidance into the technical integrity, construction, installation, hook-up and commissioning activities and reporting progress into the Project controls along with other supporting departments.
  • Management of all engineering activities within the procurement and cost control governance policies in PetroVietnam and Murphy. These will include the preparation of Pre-Project cost estimates, engineering deliverables, engineering man-hour estimates, project execution budgets and reporting.
  • Manage and provide line management support for Incident and Injury Free Inductions, and HAZID, HAZOP, JHA, Logistics and Environment workshops.
  • Develop, plan and steward project progress planning with the development team.
  • Progress projects accordingly to meet target dates set per approved field development plans, or dates set by the Project manager Facilities.
  • Maintain weekly/monthly cost, schedule and progress reporting as designated by project manager Facilities with a change control framework to alleviate the risk of non-cost recovery on the development.


  • As Engineering Manager, HCMC Office based, free to act within the authorities granted by the Development Manager.
  • Budgetary authorities will be within those limits specified by the Development Manager.
  • Ensuring that all manufacturing and construction activities comply with all COMPANY, PETROVIETNAM, Government requirements and regulations


The primary responsibilities are:

  • The Health Safety and welfare of all persons engaged on, or related to any Office, site facilities project work being undertaken by COMPANY. Personnel, staff, contracted and visitors, including third parties.
  • Safety Engineering, action and implementation of the same across the projects will form a key part of the project execution planning and implementation. In conjunction with the Company HSE representative it will be the Engineering Managers responsibility to ensure this is carried out throughout any development. Safety risk workshops will be carried out within an agreed timeline for the development as agreed by the (PMF)


  • Development Team, subsurface team, drilling team and all Work Groups.
  • Facilities Project Team personnel, Company and third-party contractors.
  • On board short-team contract, technical staff, partners and all visitors.
  • Good relations must be maintained with personnel on all work sites, offices, facilities and HCMC office.


  • Broad technical experience is required in the fundamental areas of Offshore Oil and Gas Marginal field developments. Candidate must provide a proven track record of development from concept through to production on this type of project.
  • Innovation and the ability to drive low cost fast track solutions will a pre-requisite of the position. Candidate must have a clear understanding of risk mitigation and the safe operable measures that can be taken to alleviate marginal economics.
  • Qualifications: Dependent on candidates experience base, the following qualification base will be expected a B.Sc. in Engineering (Basic Degree/Diploma etc.)
  • Working Experience will be a Minimum 12 years' experience in oil & gas (Total years, Type) industry, with at least 3 years of engineering management experience.
  • Special Skills Required: A high level of computer skills will be required with specific emphasis on the core Microsoft packages, specific knowledge of design engineering software packages and their outputs will be considered as a plus. Planning, cost control, Interface management, change management and risk management skills are also required.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills necessary for interaction with the other team members, management, contractors, government organizations etc.
