Job description


Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Wells Superintendent, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
*Overall responsibility for the quality of work performed in operation
*Provides leadership, direction and technical guidance to the team and proactively supports the professional development of less experienced engineers
*Undertakes/supervises the detailed engineering planning, cost estimating/control, execution and post-well review for Well operations. Ensures work programmes are operationally sound, with clearly established priorities and goals to deliver safe and efficient performance and in accordance with the SOR's for the wells
*Ensures the team interfaces effectively with other teams e.g. Subsurface, Projects, Supply Chain, Finance to safely and successfully deliver the well.
*Chairs/facilitates operational meetings and supports/influences decision-making. Ensures an effective process of communication is established and maintained between onshore and offshore teams and with key contractors
*Apply appropriate techniques and processes to drive performance through benchmarking and data analysis
*Ensure appropriate peer reviews and/or Risk Assessments are held for each well with assigned actions closed out accordingly
*Contribute to the approval for expenditure (AFE) preparation and submission process, manage well costs and prepare forecasts, check and approve invoices, etc for particular projects. Ensure operational and project expenditure is effectively managed, controlled and monitored
*Acts as Technical Sponsor for certain contracts and support the contractor management process by developing highly positive relationships with contractors and suppliers and ensuring delivery against KPIs/scorecards
*Provide technical support and give work direction to less experienced engineers and openly share knowledge
*Provides support to the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Incident Response Team (IRT) in the event of an incident with wells implications
*Make regular visits offshore for technical meetings/inspections and to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications
*Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge
*Responsible for the capture and close out of lessons learned and analysis of non-productive time (NPT) events
*Prepare and submit End of Well Reports

Experience & Qualifications:
*Considerable experience in a lead position of drilling operations using both jack-up and semi-submersible rigs
*Solid understanding of HSE policies and procedures, as well as industry standards and requirements in relation to well operations
*Good industry knowledge and contacts to source external expertise when necessary
*Commercial sense to make technical decisions that will benefit business
*Personal attributes that contribute to an effective team
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
*Experience in leading Wells teams in planning and operational phase
*Offshore experience as Drilling Supervisor
*Engineering experience in subsea drilling design and operations
*Commercial awareness/Understands project financing/cost control principles
*Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority e.g. IWCF, WELLCAP
*Offshore medical, survival and MIST certification
*Excellent decision making/taking skills
*Degree in an engineering, technology or science discipline
