Job description

Our Operator client based in Aberdeen's West End is seeking an Assistant Cost Engineer to work with their Drilling Cost Engineer. This is an initial contract role but with the potential to convert to staff over time.

Candidates should have a background in oil & gas cost, ideally within a Drilling, Wells or Subsurface department but a good oil & gas cost profile would be considered. Ideally you will have between 2-5 years in a cost role and be looking to work towards a cost engineer role.

Responsibilities:
* Update drilling tracking reports accurately
* Take ownership of interface deliverables uploading into drilling cost reporting process
* Variance analysis of cost categories
* Journal entries and adjustments
* Review and issue timewriting reports to budget holders
* Understand cost impact of agreed contracts
* Interface with all levels of drilling organisation, understanding department requirement for cost support
* Review and understand content and assumptions in well AFEs/time and cost estimates
* Provide invoice validation as required, ensuring all goods/services received are adequately supported and signed off as appropriately received, agreeing rates/milestones to contract
* Assist with well reconciliations
* Interface with logistics, understanding resource utilisation and cost impact
* Adhoc tasks required to support drilling accountant

Experience & Qualifications:
* Relevant oil industry experience in cost role
* Microsoft Office
* SAP experience
* Drilling environment experience
* JV accounting standards (SOAPs)
* Cost control experience
