Job description

Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Trade Compliance Manager on behalf of our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client located in Breda. Initial 12-month contract.

What will you do

Global Trade & Customs Excellence (GTE) team is responsible operational Trade Compliance activities within the Global Distribution function of our client. The role is responsible for the integration of policy and executional activities for imports and exports in support of the entire organization of our client. Providing program oversight for Trade Compliance established controls and global standards for regional execution.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Management of operational import and export activities, ensuring compliance with Trade Compliance policies of our client as well as relevant customs and trade sanctions regulations.

  • Provide Trade Compliance guidance and support to key stakeholders.

  • Act as escalation point of contact to support operational trade activities within the Global Trade & Customs Excellence team.

  • Monitor, analyse and interpret government regulations as they relate to customs and export control regulations.

  • Support Customs related audits and inspections.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support corporate planning initiatives and provide Trade Compliance support.

  • Export control management and support with obtaining applicable export permits and licenses.

  • Interact with Customs and third parties to resolve customs issues and delays.

  • Collect and report on key transactional performance metrics.

  • Provide oversight and performance management of outsourced brokerage services.

  • Provide oversight of Customs Warehouse activities & Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification.

  • Support the establishment, documentation and periodic update of Trade Compliance processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications and skills

  • Master's degree and 4 years of Trade Compliance experience OR Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Trade Compliance experience.

  • Certification in EU Customs related procedures.

  • Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations.

  • Versed in key customs processes including valuation, commodity classification, country of origin determination.

  • Experience in EU customs procedures and other complex customs matters.

  • Ability to build working relationships and effectively partner cross-functionally/cross-regionally and at all levels in the organization.

  • Continuous improvement mindset and process improvement focus.

  • Ability to leverage relationships with industry peers for benchmarking and to share best practices.

  • Ability to effectively navigate through ambiguity to resolve issues.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and executive presentation skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP regulations and GDP requirements.

  • Self-starter with the ability to take on several projects at one time.

  • Experience or education in international trade law.

  • Initiator with analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
