Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Safety Engineer, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
*Function as T2 -Technical Authority assessing and authorising deviations / deferrals of assigned SECEs , and undertaking IVB verification actions, performance standards updates, and maintenance change approvals ( PMCRs).
*Undertake Cumulative Risk assessments for SECE deviations / deferrals and chair review meeting.
*Undertake Risk Screening and any other functional assessments required in support of the MOCs being progressed for assigned assets.
*Organise or facilitate HAZID, HIRA, HAZOPs and LOPA / SIL studies etc and provide specialist expertise in relation to the hazards being assessed.
*Organise, manage, and quality assure formal safety assessments including but not limited to: Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Fire Risk Analysis (FRA), Fire Explosion Blast Risk Analysis (FEBRA); Evacuation Escape and Rescue Analysis (EERA), Temporary Refuge Impairment Analysis (TRIA); etc and provide pragmatic solutions based on results to the asset.
*Manage updates for assigned asset Operational Safety Cases and defend them to peers and regulators.
*Maintain awareness of relevant new/emerging regulations and attend Industry groups as the company's representative.
*Provide advocacy in relation to technical safety improvements and deployment of new tools and techniques, to ensure good engineering practice is maintained and to promote continuous improvement.
*Stand in for the Technical Safety Engineering Lead / Technical Authority during periods of absence.
*Identify and manage asset budget requirements.
*Undertake loss of containment calculations as directed.
*Provide SME support during Regulator interfaces including inspections.
*Periodically visit offshore/site for safety leadership visits and/or assigned audits.

Experience & Qualifications:
*Significant oil & gas or equivalent high hazard industry experience
*Consistently demonstrates excellent safety leadership behaviours.
*Degree-level qualifications in Engineering.
*Masters in Risk and Reliability
*Experience working for engineering contractor or consultancy.
