Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Structural Engineer - FEED (FPSO), based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Company structural technical expert throughout project phases
* Work with contractors to deliver the scope of individual responsibility within quality, schedule and budget requirements and facilitate the same throughout the project team
* Provide oversight for the whole design to ensure each element comes together in an integrated manner to produce the optimised upgrade design.
* Ensure proper application of technical standards.
* Work with designers to realise engineering designs.
* Coordinate and align with multi-disciplinary project groups.
* Take ownership of the weight management for the FPSO.
* Look for opportunities to enhance optimise and improve current design.
* Take part in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
* Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
* Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities e.g. liaison with IVB and fabricators, installation contractors
* Ensure contractor documentation, is reviewed for technical acceptability (when related specifically to CS discipline)
* Will be involved in key decisions on work scopes, package specifications and project delivery strategy as the project progresses.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Candidates must as a minimum have a BSc degree (or equivalent) in Civil / structural Engineering or Nav Arch.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CEng) status
* Experience of working within medium scope projects within a multidiscipline environment
* Confidence in own decision making and technical ability; clarity of delivery and capable of providing instruction and guidance to third parties
* Experience in both FEED and detailed design as well as construction
* Commercial awareness
* A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the structural engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields and interdependencies between them
* A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
* Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including CDM
* Competent use of civil/ structural engineering specific software such as STAAD Pro
* Experience of working within a multidiscipline 3D model environment
* Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite, Teams
* A requirement to communicate clearly as must be able to present to stakeholders and 3rd parties.
