Solar Development Manager

ACTIVITIES:
- Manage development budgets, project timing/planning and risks assessment with assigned Project Managers
- Drive the progress of each project by outlining & prioritizing key work streams, leading all necessary internal & external steps in the process
- Advise Land Acquisition Specialists on greenfield targets and negotiations to ensure financeable lease/purchase options and site control agreements with landowners. As needed, contract and supervise local land agents.
- Intimate knowledge and ability to follow closely the renewable energy power market trends including changing technologies, regulations, and regulatory/ financial incentives
- Lead and coordinate development activities for assigned pipeline projects
- Identify pre-construction related issues prior to obtaining the building permit
- Oversee local, state and federal environmental permitting processes
- Lead and facilitate the relationship with previous developers on shared development tasks: permitting, real estate (when applicable)
- Lead and facilitate the relationship with landowners (land/title activities) and other external stakeholders included but not limited to permit agencies and utilities
- Manage consultants - including but not limited to environmental, biological, engineering - and contracts negotiation/execution
- Facilitate contracting for pre-construction activities such as preliminary geotechnical and engineering
- Liaise with technical team to optimize project development: layout, preparation of EPC, construction…
- Manage efforts with the Owner's Engineer and EPC contractor on development deliverables and construction timelines
- Act as a clearinghouse for development-related questions from internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the development and vetting of financial models
- Prepare monthly project progress reports for senior management
- Obtain internal approvals as needed
- Participate in project handover to Asset Management
- Assist in monitoring, evaluating and optimizing the development pipeline
- Assist in developing competitive offtake pricing and competitive analysis (when applicable)
- Assist in assessing new development opportunities (greenfield sites and potential acquisitions)
- Coordinate the preparation of all materials for project finance and sell-down activities
- Contribute to TRU Budget and Long-Term Plan exercises and implementation

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead and grow business
- Accountability for safety, portfolio development (MW capacities and revenues optimization)
- Implement TRU development strategy in a cost-effective manner
- Market strategy, planning and execution, following global strategy
- Work closely with International headquarters, US Affiliates, and co-developers to develop profitable opportunities.

Candidate profile

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related discipline required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and permitting renewable energy projects, ERCOT experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on large scale utility energy development projects
- Solid oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to take initiatives and work well within a team
- Priority management skills
- Strong analytical skills with attention to details
- Ability to quickly work into new tasks and accommodate a dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel 20-30% as needed to assure the project's completion on time and within budget
