Job description

The Senior Risk Engineer will join our world-renowned client's team in London on a contract basis and will work on a large Gigafactory project which is purposely being constructed for our client's needs.

The Risk Manager will be responsible for ensuring consistent application of the development, maintenance, and monitoring of all Risk Management activities and associated documents on multiple project scopes/portfolios/contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively establish and maintain Risk Management activities on projects, seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Support junior risk personnel in the initiation and ongoing provision of Risk Management activities.
  • Delivery of a range of Risk Management services to project teams, facilitating the identification and analysis of risks on projects at all stages as required, interpreting risk outputs, and communicating to relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Maintain, and monitor all project risk-related processes and activities, acting upon any variances or issues and advising how to appropriately rectify any potential deficiencies.
  • Continually develop and improve Project Risk Management capability and level of service to Project & Contract Managers.
  • To promote good working relations within the internal and external teams.
  • To be fully conversant with the application and use of the client's Risk Management suite of tools and chosen software applications.
  • To prepare, update and maintain project Risk Management activities, throughout the project life-cycle and across the Risk Management process:
    • To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated Risk Management Plans and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
    • To guide Project personnel in defining Risk Management objectives based on project objectives and support the application of the risk process.
    • To utilise several risk identification techniques to facilitate risk identification sessions.
    • To develop and implement risk assessment criteria as part of a project risk register.
    • To assist Risk Owners with the selection of appropriate risk response strategies and the development of action plans to address identified risks.
    • Assist project or functional personnel in the familiarisation and consistent application of Risk Management software tools and associated processes.
    • To facilitate Risk workshops and develop project Risk Registers that act as repositories for all risk-related information.
  • To conduct Cost / Schedule Risk Analysis Workshop sessions, facilitating workshops building bespoke models and interpreting associated outputs for communication/review.
  • To educate, encourage and support managers and businesses in the use of decision risk analysis techniques on projects where applicable.
  • Present and provide training on a range of RM topics to internal/external audiences
  • To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated reports and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
  • To regularly engage with project teams, attending and contributing to project meetings as deemed appropriate.
  • To provide input to the development and continual improvement of project Risk Management tools and processes as part of the Global network.
  • Monitor application / Maintain a high-level awareness and application of Risk Management activities across projects executed by any direct report Risk Management personnel to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to junior RM team members including feedback / PDR input/identification of development opportunities etc.

Skills/Qualifications

  • IRM International Certificate in Risk Management, or an alternative risk qualification or equivalent.
  • BA or BSc degree in Risk Management, alternative subjects considered can include Project Management, Engineering, and other analytical disciplines.
  • Previous Project Risk Management experience across various projects
  • Specialist knowledge in Risk Management software (i.e., MCS software) and experience with quantitative cost & schedule risk analysis.
  • Demonstrable involvement/history in the relevant project industry and/or cross-over experience from a comparable technical industry.
  • Extensive working Risk related knowledge of the industry/business line.
  • Knowledge of various industry Risk Management software/applications available.
  • Experience in internal project delivery processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate confident presentation skills and embrace opportunities to educate others on Risk related topics.
