Our client, a leading Construction & Infrastructure company with a long history of delivering key projects across the UK , is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join their growing commercial team based in Aberdeen-shire. The successful candidate will play a key role within the organisation by managing all commercial aspects of high-profile Energy projects.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor /Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the financial management of projects from inception, to tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts, to commercially delivering projects worth millions of pounds. You will be an integral part of the project delivery team where you will hold key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor /Commercial Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:
Take initiative to respond to customer requirements
Understand how economic factors that affects the construction industry.
Provide commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction
Manage the feedback of commercial data to Planning and Estimating
Support the review tenders & cost data.
Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project
Co-ordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actioned
Manage the preparation and review of Earned Value Management
Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
Report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staff
Manage the feedback of commercial data to Planning, Estimating, Marketing and Sales
Manage commercial aspects with Customer and stakeholders
Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
Formulation of management plans for resource procurement.
Awareness of disputes resolution including options, structure as well as knowledge of the SCL Protocol
Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts
Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions
Management and reporting of Commercial Risk and Opportunity
Management of disallowed cost
Experience in the recruitment and retention of staff
Identifies & targets the needs of individuals & self
Manages team's PDRs, training & development including professional
Gives feedback on strengths and weaknesses - connecting plans for development of individuals.
Determine project commercial staff requirement & liaison with HR for recruitment including temporary staff
Involvement with Schools & Universities to promote the company as a potential employer and to support sponsored students.
Liaises with all parties to ensure task/project remains on plan
Ideally, you will have a track record of managing and developing a commercial team and working towards or be a Chartered Member of RICS, ICES or CIOB. You will also act as a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.

*The successful candidate will ideally be based in Aberdeen or willing to relocate.
** During pre construction you will be required to attend the office 2 days per week, however once Construction starts you will be required on site full time.
