We have a Contract opportunity with an Oil and Gas client for a Senior Instrument Designer, based in Dubai on residential status, 5 days per week.

Job Title: Senior Instrument Designer

Reporting To: Lead Instrument Designer

The Senior Instrument Designer will play a pivotal role within the Engineering department, collaborating closely with the Lead Instrument Designer to execute Company Engineering projects and provide crucial operational support. This position is integral to ensuring the timely completion of projects and meeting the schedules of the Project, Maintenance, and Production teams.

Key Result Areas (Key Accountabilities)

  1. Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Design and Engineering personnel within the discipline.
  2. Project Support: Attend project meetings, identify scope changes, and effectively communicate them to Planning and Project Engineers.
  3. Collaboration: Assist Construction and Operational teams with drawing retrieval, design implementation, and addressing drawing queries.
  4. Site Visits: Travel to offshore and onshore facilities for design surveys as required.
  5. Documentation Interpretation: Interpret vendor documentation and data to incorporate into design deliverables.
  6. Compliance: Adhere to all company procedures and standards.
  7. Drawing Management: Maintain Asset Drawings and Records for discipline deliverables in accordance with company procedures.
  8. Quality Assurance: Ensure quality and technical accuracy in drawing preparation and material quantities.
  9. Site Surveys: Conduct site visits and surveys, providing input into resultant survey reports.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Job Related Competencies:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Engineering or Equivalent.
  • Offshore Certification such as Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) or International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST)

Experience Profile:

  • Strong experience in project execution of brownfield Instrumentation modifications for the Oil and Gas industry, including Concept, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and Detail Design.
  • Experience in communication with other engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency in preparation of cost, time, and resource plans.
  • Review experience of vendor package drawings.
  • Proficient in preparation of various Control and Instrumentation design deliverables, including but not limited to:
    • 3D Model Instrument layout in AutoCAD
    • Block Diagrams
    • Cable Schedule
    • Termination Diagrams
    • Loop Diagram
    • Routing layouts
    • Schematics
    • Process, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic Hook-ups
    • General Arrangements
    • Detail Drawings
    • Fabrication Drawings
    • Cause and Effects
    • Material take-off

Competencies/Skills/Others:

  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Navisworks, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of site-based project working involving field engineering and construction.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
  • Ownership mentality and commitment to issue resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work within structured frameworks and time constraints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
