Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Senior Graphic Designer & Technical Writer for a year long contract. The position will be based in Houston. For further information about this position please apply.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be primarily responsible for handling all design projects; from conception to the final stage for the program while suggesting and making creative alterations to projects.
  • Duties include researching and reading industry-related materials, writing documents, working with photography or illustration, and presenting design concepts to clients.
  • Develop creative concepts and layouts for print media and web design projects.
  • Manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Provide creative direction and design support.
  • Maintain current awareness of trends, technology, and practices.
  • Work with project team and client to develop design concepts.
  • Provide quality graphic design and layout services.
  • Support project communications, advertising, and marketing of company products and services.
  • Provide design direction for print and other design projects.
  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams or clients on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.
  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
  • Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content by determining the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
  • Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials, based on best practices for using a content management system.
  • Use trend intelligence and knowledge of historical and current markets when designing and executing specific classifications.
  • Design, develop, and effectively apply strong visual aesthetic skills to create original artwork for print, web, and broadcast media.
  • Develop detailed, in-person concept designs, and collaborate with marketing, programming, and senior leadership to develop designs in line with brand standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current design trends, techniques and technologies.
  • Provide creative input on project conceptualization, development and implementation.
  • Work closely with key clients, vendors, and freelancers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Review, edit, and approve final artwork for print, web, video and broadcast.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in graphic design required
  • Graphic design-related field is preferred.
  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas Engineering and Design preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in graphic design with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and applications.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating capability of producing high-quality design work.
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
