Senior Electrical Engineer - Anesco

Anesco is a market leader in renewable energy, managing the development, design, construction, maintenance, and market optimisation of large-scale projects across the UK, and more recently in Europe.

To date the company has constructed over 100 grid scale solar farms and 30 energy storage facilities, while its O&M service is monitoring more than 24,000 sites. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • In depth knowledge of Electrical systems, specifications, and designs, in accordance with relevant ISO/ IEC/BS standards, including IET CoP, BS7671 18th Edition etc.
  • Design and review of MV/LV SLDs and schematics.
  • Knowledge of design of High Voltage (HV)/Medium Voltage systems (MV).
  • Design the electrical protection scheme and review engineering CAD drawings as required.
  • Appointing/vetting electrical design consultants.
  • MV/LV electrical equipment review, specification, selection, and design (including UPS, cables, metering, CTs, switchgear, transformers, inverters, inverter string configuration etc).
  • Liaison with electrical equipment manufacturers, technical advisors, and consultants.
  • Cable sizing and optimisation calculations; issuing of MV/LV DC cable schedules for procurement and/or installation requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

Essential

  • Minimum five years of professional PV & BESS system design experience at commercial / utility-scale.
  • Proficient in electrical systems design, including electrical power distribution systems and renewable connections, SCADA, Communications Systems, etc.
  • Understanding of P28, G99 and similar ENA recommendations and the design/implementation of solutions to meet these requirements.
  • Familiarity with Amtech or similar electrical design packages to assist with cable sizing and/or protection settings and schemes and optimisation.
  • Experienced user of the following software, AutoCAD, MSOffice (particularly Excel for data analytics), Outlook, SharePoint.

Desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge of inverter specification, array sizing, yield optimization, module selection and component assessments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PV & BESS systems.
  • BESS - Supplier proposal reviews: Inverter and cell technology and sizing.
  • Technical advisor documentation review.
  • Site survey, construction inspection, and As-Built documents, O&M manuals, and O&M handover documents.
  • PVsyst

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualified in electrical engineering.
  • Chartered status with a recognised electrical institute.
