Senior Design Engineer

Location - Central Belt, Scotland

Permanent

Salary - £35-45k plus benefits

Reporting to the General Manager, this is a key position within the company. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering design services for all projects as well as coordinating design activity produced in-house. The role also encompasses design activity relating to legacy projects and will involve engagement with multiple stakeholders, including tendering engineers, sales, service engineers, clients, sub-contractors and suppliers. You will be required to assist with the training and development of more junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Project manage allocated projects

Undertake technical design activity utilising Inventor and Vault.

Prepare technical designs, quotations, design approval packs in accordance with codes of practice, legislation, and current policies and procedures.

Conduct cost estimates, contract review and order acceptances

Ensure records are maintained of work activities to satisfy Customers, and all legal requirements.

Ensure that personal competencies are maintained and up to date.

Prepare quotes, design approval packs, and provide support and guidance to operational teams, management and customers on designs, quotations, sales, safety and technical matters.

Prepare design drawings in accordance with required EAC standards.

Lead and control a variety of commercial projects in order that time scales and projected profits are met.

Liaise with customers and representatives of classification bodies

To mentor, guide, train and advise more junior members of the team.

Carry out site visits where appropriate.

Produce work to the required quality and standard within defined performance criteria and productivity measures.

Approve Designs within the scope of the individual's ability as defined.

Vacancy Requirements

To be considered for this position you will have at least 3 years previous experience working within a multi design environment ideally within an onshore/offshore discipline. You will have a sound working knowledge of appropriate legislation, codes of practice and industry standards. Excellent communications skills and have the ability to manage your time in an effective manner ensuring all projects are running smoothly are essential for the position.
