Rotating Equipment Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controls Engineer to join our client in Algeria on 28 / 28 rotation. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the reliability and availability of our critical rotating equipment fleet, including GE LM2500s, Siemens RB211s, Solar Centaur 40s, and Siemens SGT100s driving gas compressors and generators.


Responsibilities:


* Maintain and troubleshoot control systems on gas turbines, compressors, and generators, including HMIs, PLCs (Logix5000, FT125, and GE Mark VI) Drives, Historians, and industrial networks.
* Manage control system backups and electronic data records.
* Collect and trend process data using company process historians.
* Support control system maintenance and test planning, software upgrades, ESD testing, offline and online testing, coordinating activities with plant shutdowns.
* Plan and coordinate maintenance tasks related to rotating equipment control systems.
* Review, update, and develop instrument and controls maintenance documentation.
* Develop and execute maintenance program objectives.
* Collect and record data using our CMMS (Maximo) and other data sources.
* Implement control system life cycle management programs, including inventory, obsolescence plans, spare parts management, and upgrade/replacement planning.
* Analyze maintenance records to identify failure rates, perform availability/reliability calculations, and determine bad actors/failure modes.
* Conduct criticality assessments and develop equipment strategies/maintenance plans considering obsolescence, industry standards, regulations, and manufacturer recommendations.
* Ensure cyber security application to all gas turbine control systems.
* Implement and maintain IT and OT security controls for a secure cyber network and infrastructure.
* Develop skills of junior team members through on-the-job training and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical, Automation, or Control and Instrumentation Engineering preferred, or 10+ years of relevant experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge and capabilities.
* Experience and knowledge in the following areas:
o Gas Turbine Controls (GE LM2500s, Siemens RB211s, Solar Centaur 40s, Siemens SGT100s)
o Instrumentation
o Instrument and wiring method selection for hazardous areas
o Control system architecture design (basic process control vs. safety instrumented systems)
o Expert knowledge of gas compression, power generation, and gas turbine systems
o Control system logic configuration and programming (PLC5, LOGIX500, SL500, S7, Mark VI, FT125)
o Process control (PID theory/tuning, basic/advanced regulatory control methods)
o HMI programming
* Ability to review, evaluate, and update cause and effect diagrams, P&IDs, logic and architecture diagrams, and control narratives.
* Proficient in data collection and analysis with common database and software data analysis tools (Maximo, System 1, Exequantumn).
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to lead and train others.
