Job description

We are currently supporting a major EPC company in their search for a Riser Engineer to join them on a contract basis in Leatherhead.

Job Description:
To work within offshore/subsea engineering projects and provide analytical and design services for fixed and flexible risers containing multiphase flow, oil, gas and water injection fluids. Also to prepare and run Finite Element analysis programs for static and dynamic analysis of fixed and flexible risers.

The role is within an established and expanding group with excellent opportunities for future progression into other technical areas, project and commercial management. The successful applicant will be a key member of the team.

Qualifications:
Good First Degree in Structural, Mechanical, Aeronautical or Civil Engineering
Second Degree, MSc. preferable
C Eng. via an applicable Institute.

Experience:
Good general knowledge of risers preferably including much of the following:

· 10years experience of rigid and flexible riser analysis and design.
· Comprehensive knowledge of applicable design codes, DNV, ASME, ISO, etc.
· Experience of conceptual, feasibility, pre-FEED and FEED activities and production of, philosophies, design reports, isometrics, GA's and detail design drawings and specifications/data sheets.
· Working with platform structural engineers for incorporation of jacket deflections into the riser design including riser span analysis/riser guide positioning and riser vortex shedding analysis.
· Experience of interfacing with pipeline design engineers for loads imposed from the pipelines and expansion spools.
· Ability to work with and coordinate design effort with other project disciplines and third party consultants.
· experience in conducting FE analysis for analysis and structural specification with such programmes as ABAQUS, ANSYS, AutoPipe, Caesar II, etc .
· Stress analysis including fatigue analysis, J-tube pull-in analysis for pipelines, umbilical's and cables (fibre optic and electrical power)
· Knowledge of structural steel programmes such as SACS, STADD Pro, etc.
· Experience in the interpretation of MetOcean data and the application of wave theories from the data for generation of riser hydrodynamics loads in various return storm and steady state current conditions.
· Fabrication yard and offshore riser installation experience an advantage.
