Job description

Job Title: Real Time Operating Centre (RTOC) Coordinator

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 24/7 monitoring of 3 rigs activities and communicate any deviation.
  • Track operations KPI and participate in the preparation of the performance improvement plan.
  • Provide data support for debriefings and decision making.

Data aggregation and transfer:

  • Work with the RTOC service provider and IT department to set up data aggregation from the different Service companies at the 3 Rig Sites, data transfer protocols and the RTOC installation at Kampala office.
  • Always ensure data transfer quality control during operations and support the RTOC service provider to troubleshoot any issue.

Well planning:

  • Provide Drilling engineers before upcoming operations with offset wells review dossier that includes analysis and visualization of major drilling action hazards, Lessons learned, drill bit/BHA performances, etc.
  • Prepare well monitoring strategy with D&W engineers: Organize a kick-off meeting, define the drilling parameters envelopes, alert levels, Issue communication protocols, vigilance points and make sure relevant KPIs are agreed and implemented.

During operations:

  • Ensure process is known & applied with rig sites, define documents to be shared with rig site and communicate same with regular follow-up.
  • Ensure operations follow-up and communicate any deviation as per communication protocol. Prepare all supporting data displays for decision making during briefings between Town and the Rig Site.
  • Ensure that all incidents captured through the RTOC are investigated, corrective actions are completed, and lessons learned are shared.
  • Closely monitor KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of the recent operational activities. Highlight any deviation from KPI targets to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure daily reporting is shared on time and with the agreed templates.
  • Highly contribute to métier digital transformation, work with the HQ DrillX to install & develop products i.e., predictive models. And propose continuous improvement of the RTOC.

Post Well operations:

  • Organize the preparation of end-of-phase report with the relevant recommendations for improvement.
  • Business Continuity Plan
  • Due to high frequency of well delivery and short well duration, the RTOC Coordinator shall be able to stand for drilling engineers for trajectories processing (Anti-collision monitoring, drain landing, Geosteering, etc.), if required

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • MSc (or equivalent professional experience) and academic training in drilling & wells
  • Good operational knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry.
  • At least five years of experience in in Drilling and Wells operations or engineering. With at least two years as a drilling engineer is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Company policy and procedures (drilling, testing, safety /environment).
  • Use of drilling design software (T-desk/ADEPT)
  • Third party software is a plus (trajectory, Anti-collision, etc.).
  • Driven, good team spirit and communication skills.
