Job description

We have a current opportunity for a QUANTITY SURVEYOR on a contract basis outside of IR35. The position will be based 3 days a week in Surrey, Edinburgh or London - candidate's choice - with 2 days WFH.

Commercial support through project life cycle for allocated projects.

The role requires both sound quantity surveying skills, with the ability to identify and address commercial/ contractual risk in order to protect the projects commercial position(s) as well as the ability to work collaboratively within an established and culturally diverse team with a varied range of experience levels.

ROLE SPECIFIC WORK PACKAGES:

The role will cover an interesting and wide ranging set of work packages including but not limited to:

  • Onshore export cable corridor works.
  • Site investigation works.
  • Onshore high voltage HVAC and HVDC substation construction.
  • Steel jacket & gravity based marine foundation construction.
  • Marine port improvement works.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support/input into quantity surveying, contract/commercial management of allocated activities/projects.
  • Agree with the Work Package Manager(s) /Procurement Lead(s), the contract strategy for project(s) and assist in facilitating timely and efficient implementation.
  • Commercially administering allocated contracts ensuring contract compliance thought the project(s) lifecycle.
  • Provide robust cost management including accurate live forecasting and actual costs v's estimates.
  • Providing support to the procurement process (pre-award), commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post-award) and commercial/claims management for the delivery of contract final account agreements (close out).

Reporting

  • Ensure robust cost estimates are provided that are aligned to scope with a transparent overview of all risks and opportunities within the project(s).
  • Ensure that accurate and trusted records are kept so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
  • Implementing internal contract commercial / financial reporting and participating in periodic contract reviews.
  • Control and store contract documentation in compliance with project(s) systems and processes.
  • Look to genuinely assist and develop less experienced members of the project(s) team with your commercial knowledge/insight and experience gained over numerous years in industry.

Skills/ Experience

  • Experience of various procurement approaches eg: agreeing contractual cost indexation provisions, re-measurable contracts using both standard and bespoke methods of measurement, bills of quantities, schedules of rates for variations/dayworks, compilation and interrogation of "star" rates and the agreement of schedule of unit rates conversion to lump sum contracts.
  • Proven track record delivering high value on and offshore projects on time and to budget.
  • Substantial contract negotiation / delivery experience.
