Job description


Roles & Responsibilities (main functions)

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, the Quality Engineer will oversee the lab performance and quality management system of the site. Develop processes and implement preventative actions to ensure product meets performance requirements.

Key responsibilities will involve:
* Day to day operational running of the Quality Department
* Ensure compliance to CE standards
* Ownership of daily testing results and analysis and timescales of testing met
* Ensure bulk production matches approved terms and conditions of buyers
* Oversee the site's quality management system
* Check validity and improve process documentation
* Run analysis and CAPAs on customer complaints
* Lead and develop the internal audit programme
* Main contact for external audits with BSI, BBA and CE (SKH)
* Track and optimise testing non-conformances, B-Grade and Regrade
* Oversee laboratory and online electrical calibration systems
* Training of new staff in quality control and systems
* Assist in Research & Development trials/new product implementation
* Cover for absence of QC Technician
* Undertake additional tasks or projects as required






Communications

To fulfil this role, regular communication is essential with:

* HSEQ Manager
* QA-QC Inspector, QC Technician, Process Engineers.
* Production Operators and Area Managers
* Logistics and Warehouse



Site Expectations

* Be an active member in at least one safety star sub-committee
* Comply to site safety regulations
* Conduct regular safety walkrounds and report Near Misses
* Review SSoW before conducting any task



Qualification/Experience

* Background in quality testing/checks and standards/regulations
* Basic data analysis - can identify step-changes in trends. Requires technical awareness
* Familiarity with Quality Management Systems - trained ISO-9001 auditor
* Proficient in Microsoft Office - detailed knowledge and use of Excel formulae/tools

* Technically minded - must be able to understand regulations and the site process in detail
* Data analysis and interpretation through Excel or internal trending systems - essential
* Self-motivated, open-minded, pro-active and intuitive
* High level of integrity in the data being handled within the role
* Excellent communication skills
* Comfortable working by themselves and as part of a team, and confident in escalating deficiencies * Extremely organised and efficient
* Time management - reliable, must be able to multi-task and prioritise, whilst being flexible and adapting to changes in priorities
