Job description

Project Planner
Contract: 18+ months
Location: Scotford


The Project Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling all activities for projects during
early project phases and developing and maintaining regular progress reporting. In addition, this role
will be accountable for integrating these schedules with the Scotford site planning team, including
successfully transitioning the projects to the site execution team for implementation. The planner
will also be responsible for maintaining the Scotford Integrated Activity Plan (IAP) and will be
responsible for collating inputs from multiple stakeholders as required (major growth project teams,
integration committee, site projects team, etc.)


Skills and Requirements:


* Excellent people skills and ability to communicate effectively.
* Trained in using Primavera (P6) -Desktop & cloud version
* Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Project Planner or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 5 years industry experience including lead / managerial positions in planning, risk
management or cost estimator.
* Fully versed with Planning & Scheduling principles, techniques, and industry standard tools.
* Self-driven, proactive individuals with high passion for continuous improvement and business
mind-set with ability to work with minimum supervision on a global platform.
* Ability to work across multi-cultural / multi-national environments.
* Work experience as Planning Engineer in all project phases.
* Self-motivated, resourceful, and have good interpersonal relationship skills.
* Proven leadership skills and strong personal drive-in order to meet deadlines and specific
targets.
* Team player with clear evidence of working with others to deliver on goals.
* Strong, and demonstrated, personal commitment to HSSE Leadership and experience in
managing HSSE throughout all project phases.


Purpose and Accountabilities:


* Deliver and maintain consistent and realistic plans and schedule structures for a small, medium,
and major complex project and their hierarchy relationship (early project phases).
* Craft comprehensive schedules spanning engineering and construction phases, from Level I to III,
using integrated workshops for planning.
* Drive, manage and ensure completeness of the development of the activities, logic, resources,
and progress for the integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the baseline and its
subsequent maintenance.
* Support and/ or facilitate Interactive planning sessions.
* Establish and Deliver to a monthly reporting cadence for schedule status updates.
* Own the overall schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analyses.
* Develop status reporting framework and implement throughout the planning hierarchy. Provide
regular and comprehensive schedule status reports to Project Management.
* Develop competitive schedules and benchmarks for assigned projects.
* To support what-if Schedules scenarios, Summary Schedules, Decision Roadmaps, Critical Path,
Trend analysis, Float erosion, and S-Curves.
* Assess impacts of changes on project targets, productivity, and milestones; engage with
technical team, directors, and JV partners for scenario analyses.
* Review scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project.
Prepare reconciliation between earlier schedules and the current schedule.
* Consolidate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and
milestones, including productivity monitoring and "What if scenarios" to aid project
management decision-making.
* Contribute to the development of the project's risk profiles and translate these into the plans
using deterministic and probabilistic analysis methods, as appropriate.
* Regularly track the schedule risk mitigation efforts, the criticality of the main paths to
completion, float consumption and the release of the 50/50 schedule contingency.
* Deliver close-out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation)
at completion of work.


Additional Details:


* Manages projects while adhering to agreed upon constraints.
* Takes responsibility for and participating in all aspects of one or more small projects.
* Effectively estimates and monitors project factors such as cost, to be within an agreed scope,
ensures realistic plans are in place and tracked against.
* Require an associate's degree or its equivalent with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a
related area.
* Proficient in commonly-used project management tools, methods and techniques, progress
reporting methods and techniques, risk management and project planning and control
techniques.
* Shows effective team leadership for small teams of up to 10 people. A certain degree of
creativity and latitude is required.
