As part of the Operational Readiness (OR) and Transition (ORT) Group - as an OR Project Manager your main responsibilities for assigned projects will be:

  • To deliver Operational Readiness management expertise, guidance and direction.
  • To be responsible for functional OR & T planning, delivery, assurance and reporting, and the conduct of OR activity

Role/Responsibility:

As required/for assigned projects:

  • As tasked by the OR GP LDR, working in support of infrastructure project delivery and with the User, Capability/Project Sponsor and Project Delivery lead - provide the Operational Readiness (OR) focus.
  • Generate/drive the OR philosophy/approach within projects. Ensure a focus on capability delivery.
  • Develop and own the OR Plan. Ensure operational considerations are incorporated/integrated with all aspects of a comprehensive project execution plan.
  • Ensure comprehensive cross lines of development/activity integration to ensure OR issues on all lines of activity to enable asset operation are identified, owned, addressed, and resolved.
  • From an OR perspective - inform and assure: Concepts; Requirements; Contracts; Design; Acceptance and Handover criteria.
  • Analyse, plan, corral and integrate the multiple lines of activity required to enable the asset to operate, ensuring they are synchronised with asset delivery, installation and commissioning - so that Acceptance, Transition and Operations occur as soon as practicable and enabling optimal operational start-up/ramp up.
  • Assure and report on OR project planning and progress.
  • Manage OR Project interfaces; Risks and Issues; Lessons.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Designate Operations Team.
  • Support broader project management activities (e.g., planning, recruitment, training, manpower mobilization, cost control) through project phases into operations/production.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in formal project management, the delivery of large projects and a strong understand of full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to understand the multiple lines of activity that collectively deliver operational readiness.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels.
  • Ability to extract information in a variety of environments.
  • Good at summarizing data.
  • Good at eliciting information during.
  • Experience project manager / project management and/or operational readiness context.
  • Will consider candidates with some skills not available.
  • Actual project management.
  • Formal project management.
  • Defence project management.
  • Candidates will need to integrate several unspecified projects.
  • Someone who can demonstrate FORMAL project management experience.

We are particularly interested in individuals with:

  • Degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Evidence of project management competence e.g., APM qualifications.
  • Capability Management experience.
  • Experience of working in regulated environments. A working knowledge of nuclear site Licence Conditions, and other relevant legislation is desirable.
