Project Manager

OVERVIEW

The Project Manager is the head of the project's management team, overseeing all facets of the construction project, but primarily responsible for the project's fiscal management.

WORK SCHEDULE

Must have open availability to travel to and work at any location and potentially be away from home for extended periods of time. May be required to work non-standard shifts, any time any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Employment is "at will" and subject to change depending on departmental needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Sound knowledge of Labor Postures and Contract forms is essential.
  • Provides strong and effective project leadership
  • Demonstrates Innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment
  • Ensures that project requirements for Baseline Centric Execution, safety, quality, and productivity are met in all locations managed by Company where project work is being performed
  • Maintains effective Customer relations that result in active cooperation, prompt payment, and if possible, the award of follow-on work
  • Complies with the Company OSG and PDM
  • Abides by the policies and procedures found in the Company Personnel Policy Manuals
  • Establishes the Project Baseline (as defined in the OSG) as soon as feasible, as well as ensuring that it is fully documented, updated, and communicated to the project team as appropriate
  • Prepares a Contract summary and communicates to project leads
  • Reviews all Project Baseline requirements and prepares a written scope of facilities and services and communicating to project leads
  • Establishes and maintains a fully documented change control system that tracks all changes to the Contract and Project Baseline requirements or conditions
  • Establishes and defines the project organization, defines the project staffing requirements, and coordinates staffing with supporting organization managers
  • Establishes, communicates, implements, and maintains a current Project Execution Plan (PEP)
  • Executes the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project, including preparing and complying with project-specific Activity Plans
  • Manages and controls the project's cost and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly, including establishing a Project Structure (Work Breakdown Structure/Network/Network Activity), a quantitative approach to planning, reporting and control, and a change management system
  • Provides coordination between design, procurement, and/or construction for integration of technical content and schedule activities
  • Coordinates preparation and issuance of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages. Coordinates design efforts with licensors, vendors, and/or subcontractors to ensure proper and complete integration with project plans
  • Complies with standards and procedures regarding the security and management of computing facilities and systems, including the use of Company reference systems
  • Ensures that project invoices are submitted to the client in accordance with contract requirements and proactively follows up on accounts receivable and the timely receipt of payment in order to minimize the cost of cash
  • Keeps senior operations management of the group fully informed on project status, including client relations, project cost and schedule, changes in risk assessment, anticipated changes in project financial performance, and any other major concerns
  • Produces a status report of project activities that includes required financial reporting and participating in project reviews as required by the OSG
  • Ensures that project records are identified, collected, indexed, filed, stored, and maintained (including Supplier records) in accordance with the Project File Index and Retention Schedule
  • Provides an environment for the development and professional advancement of project personnel, including providing on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities
  • Acts as Proposal Manager, responsible for managing completion of technical and commercial proposals, providing project planning, means and methods of project execution, schedule preparation, cost estimating, and proposal strategy
  • Executes all aspects of the total project in accordance with the scope of the contract
  • Implements the requirements of the OSG and applicable policies and procedures on each project
  • Delivers the project in accordance with the Project Baseline
  • Meets the as-sold profitability target established in the Project Baseline
  • Miscellaneous duties as directed

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8 years project management experience, plus 2-4 years' experience in project operations or as a design or construction engineer
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical field is highly preferred, however extensive experience ( 10 years +) may be substituted for education requirement provided candidate can demonstrate proven field project experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate and able to utilize Microsoft Office applications
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
  • Travel is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Frequently lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects with tools and equipment
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Acceptable visual acuity for near, far and color - naturally or with correction
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • Good physical fitness
  • Good sense of balance
  • Work at great heights is required
