Job description

Our client, a leading Geotechnical Solutions Company, are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager who has proven experience in maximising the value of the supply chain. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Bishops Stortford.

Responsibilities include overseeing the purchasing activities of the company, ensuring that goods and services are acquired efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with the organization's Company's needs and goals, working closely with other Department Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market research and analysis also including going on the field to search and meet with suppliers
  • Making requests for quotation, offers comparison and conducting the negotiation with suppliers
  • Issuing purchase orders with accurate terms and conditions and securing the follow-up
  • Participating to key projects meetings and reporting purchasing activities
  • Responsibility for the operation of the Procurement compliance process
  • Design, implement and lead supply chain management program
  • Develop a supplier network through identification, assessment, and regular review
  • Search for new suppliers, alternative sources and maintaining a supplier's data management system
  • Spend analysis and identification of key strategic categories and their suppliers
  • Negotiate price, delivery and all other relevant terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop, negotiate and implement framework agreements and call-off contracts for recurring materials or services
  • Organize and conduct supplier visits, audits, evaluation and development
  • Develop and report key performance indicators to the management/to the project
  • Leader of the purchasing team and responsible for the professional management and further development of the purchasing team
  • Collaborate with the management team and represent the interests of procurement in the organisation

The ideal candidate:

  • Commercial knowledge including experience with construction contracts
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Market and technical knowledge
  • Developed analytic and strategic thinking

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Qualification desirable but not essential
  • Adequate technical experience preferably in the Construction industry
  • Experienced supply chain professional who has proven experience in a similar role
