Job description

Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Packaging Engineer (GMP) for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract, with high possibility of extension. This is a hybrid role, where you are required to be onsite 3-4 days a week.

Role Summary

Currently we are looking for a packaging engineer that can help us in bringing packaging specifications and configurations to the next level. In this role you will be working closely together with the rest of the (international) packaging team, QA and the artwork team. As you will be a spider in the web, communication and relationship building is key.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Documenting packaging component specifications, technical reports and change of documentation according to Change Control procedures.
  • Creating, reviewing and approving testing protocol and reports as required.
  • Assisting in trouble shooting and leading investigation on Packaging Component problems for areas like production, warehouse, incoming inspection (minor and major deviation lead).
  • Developing and improving technical contact with existing approved suppliers.
  • Leading or contributing to projects related to packaging component optimization or new packaging introductions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (i.e. QA, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Equipment Engineering and Validation Engineering).

Required Qualifications and skills

  • A degree in (Packaging) Design, Engineering and/or related professional experience in Pharmaceutical Packaging Engineering.
  • Excellent understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, technical problem solving and communication (written and verbal in English) skills.
  • The ability to work in teams and adapt to dynamic environment.
  • Good understanding of materials and equipment used in secondary and tertiary (pharmaceutical) packaging industry.
  • Experienced in creation of packaging materials specifications, including technical layout templates.
  • Good understanding of the link between packaging materials specifications, production requirements, artwork requirements, supplier requirements, regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations and problems.
  • Manages multiple assignments and processes.
  • Independently determines approach to projects.
  • Recognizes and escalates problems.
  • Contributes to (project)team by ensuring quality of tasks/services provided by self and others.
  • Gives support to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects or activities within own department or project team.
