Night Drilling Supervisor

Job Purpose:
Execute and manage rig site operations to deliver the well objectives safely, with minimum environmental impact & with maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities / Key Objectives:


EHS

  • Ensures EHS is given the highest priority in all elements of programme delivery.
  • Demonstrates and publicises commitment to EHS.
  • Leads by example to promote a safety culture and excellent EHS performance.
  • Ensures all incidents and accidents are promptly reported and where appropriate thoroughly investigated and learnings are recorded and implemented.

Continuous Improvement

  • Ensures continuous improvement and ideas from rig after action reviews and lessons learned are incorporated into daily work instructions and implemented in all well operations.
  • Well Operations performance/efficiency improvement - Engage and encourage drilling contractor and third party service companies to offer suggestions for increasing operational performance.
  • Ensures upcoming operations are planned correctly and people + equipment + procedures are available ahead of time

Operational Support

  • Provide the day to day operational and technical expertise in execution of rig operations to deliver P&A plans and objectives.
  • Supports the SDSV as required
  • Manages daily operations and logistics to deliver well plans.
  • Plans for future operations and ensures required materials and services are available at rig site in an efficient timeframe.
  • Work with Service Providers to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds requirements.
  • Provide technical input and when required offers engineered solutions to well problems.
  • Provide concise and informative daily reports.
  • Drives the advanced planning process to ensure all work instructions and rig specific procedures are reviewed, updated and understood ahead of the operations being executed.


Risk Management

  • Provide written work instructions to all crews involved in operations with emphasis on key risks identified and with measures to avoid NPT.


Relationships

  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, service companies and drilling contractor representatives on the rig

Education:

  • A tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline, (preferably in mechanical or petroleum engineering is preferred but not essential).
  • Valid Well Control certification and relevant certification/ courses.
  • Valid medical certification fit to work in remote offshore African location.


Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of Drilling/ workover/ completion/ P&A Operations. (Preferably in remote locations.)
  • Experience working offshore in shallow and deep water using 5th/ 6th/7th generation rig operations
  • Experience working on plug and abandonment operations including Perf and wash, cement plug drilling, cut and pull of casing and wellheads, packer retrieval/ millingFluent in English both written and spoken.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish good working relationships with team.
  • High proficiency with IT and industry software including MS Suite
  • Excellent planning skills
