Lead Process Safety Engineer / Technical Authority (TA) - Operations

About the role:

In this key role, you will be the Process Safety Technical Authority (TA). You will lead and coordinate all aspects of process safety, providing expert guidance and support to ensure the safe and efficient operation of processes, systems, and equipment.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership and assurance on all process safety matters within operations.
  • Offer technical expertise and support to all departments on process safety implementation.
  • Develop and implement relevant KPIs, performance objectives, and other indicators to demonstrate process safety performance.
  • Spearhead the implementation of Integrity Management Standard for process safety.
  • Lead or participate in technical reviews and updates of engineering risk management documents (MAR, QRA, HAZOPs, LOPA, SiL studies, etc.).
  • Manage operational aspects of process safety, ensuring effective implementation of risk management processes (Operational Risk Assessment, PSSR, SIRPS, audits).
  • Provide technical input to the Management of Change process and review project design deliverables.
  • Respond to process safety inquiries raised by operations personnel.
  • Contribute your expertise to incident investigations, emergency response planning, and exercises.
  • Foster communication and knowledge sharing of process safety best practices with stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor local and expat staff, including a junior engineer, on process safety principles.

You are the ideal candidate if you have:

  • Extensive experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • A thorough understanding of key engineering risk management processes related to process safety (MAR, QRA, IM, HAZID/HAZOP, etc.).
  • A demonstrated commitment to hands-on HSE leadership.
  • Proven experience with technical integrity management standards and relevant engineering practices in process safety.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in engineering software.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification with relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English;
  • French and Arabic are a plus.
  • Medical fitness for rotational work.
