Job description

We are currently supporting a major gas company in Qatar with their search for a Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHES) Lead work on the night shift team on a contract basis. This would be an initial 36 month contract.

They are looking for candidates with extensive HSE management experience on large scale international oil and gas projects and management of EPC contractors.

Job Purpose:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SHES) to NFXP Onshore EPC PMT and CONTRACTOR(s) for fieldwork across all EPC packages.
  • Ensure compliance with Project & RLC SHES requirements, managing a team of SHES Specialists and overseeing CONTRACTOR(s) to resolve SHES compliance issues effectively.
  • Assist SHES Head in implementing and verifying NFXP Onshore EPC SHES Plans & Procedures through clear planning and communication with all parties involved.
  • Support NFXP Onshore EPC CONTRACTOR(s) in preparing for site mobilization, offering expert SHES advice to achieve QatarEnergy LNG's mission of safeguarding people, assets, and the environment.
  • Manage Project SHES Management system elements and ensure efficient risk control and mitigation measures are implemented at the site according to contractual requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support NFXP Onshore EPC project in all SHES-related disciplines, collaborating closely with the SHES Head and/or SHES Manager.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for site SHES and regulatory compliance, reviewing CONTRACTOR SHES Plans and resource allocation.
  • Promote strong safety cultures aligned with project vision, mission, and values, participating in safety meetings and promoting observation & intervention programs.
  • Liaise internally with relevant QatarEnergy LNG Operations and Major Projects groups, managing NFXP Onshore COMPANY SHES Specialists at the site during the EPC phase.
  • Interface with CONTRACTOR Management, SUBCONTRACTOR(s), and external parties such as Ras Laffan Industrial City, ensuring SHES matters are addressed effectively.

Job Context & Major Challenges:

  • Support SHES and Project Management in meeting site SHES requirements for a large LNG Plant and associated facilities, coordinating with the EPC SHES Team and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support and oversight for the management and implementation of SHES requirements throughout the project duration, navigating a multi-national organizational matrix.

Candidate Specification - Minimum Requirements:

  • Leadership skills with excellent communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle excessive workload and bring innovative ideas to meet project objectives.
  • Strong teamwork and facilitation skills, capable of interacting at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in international projects with Tier-1 EPC Contractors or Clients, along with relevant HSE qualifications and 8-10 years' industry experience.
