Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Lead Instrument Technician, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
*Lead the Instrumentation maintenance team to undertake routine inspection, preventative servicing & minor adjustment of equipment.
*Review planned, and corrective, maintenance work orders and ensure all preparations are fully undertaken before commencement of works.
*Co-ordinate with production operations personnel for start-up and shut-down of process and utility systems, and warning of any interruption to Control, Shut-down or Fire & Gas systems.
*Implement planned and corrective maintenance on equipment & systems, ensuring all works are carried out in compliance and conformance with company procedures.
*Ensure safety critical equipment is maintained in compliance with procedures and regulations.
*Oversee or undertake installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
*Ensure equipment and systems are reinstated to required condition and performance.
*Liaise with onshore support engineer and vendor to ensure the software change control process is followed for all software interventions and modifications.
*Undertake performance and condition monitoring and assessment.
*Provide a source of technical expertise to diagnose, analyse and rectify faults to enhance maximum availability.
*Manage first line support for IT, Telecoms issues.
*Maintain comprehensive activity records and logs in CMMS.
*Prepare fulsome report to document works completed and any actions/issues remaining.
*Review all maintenance work orders for accuracy, consistency and quality of technical history.
*Mark-up instrument drawings and single line diagrams to reflect 'as-built' status, and fully report modifications made to the equipment or systems to onshore discipline engineer.
*Ensure instrumentation maintenance, calibration and certification records in maintenance system and Metering Equipment log books are maintained up to date.
*Liaise with internal & external auditors for control, measurement or metering audits.
*Liaise with onshore discipline engineers and other support resources to ensure adequate levels of support are provided in a timely manner.
*Lead and control the work activities of the Instrument maintenance team, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
*Supervise vendors, equipment specialists and maintenance contract personnel onsite.
*Guide, train and coach Instrument Technicians in discipline and safe work practices.
*Contribute to performance appraisal of subordinate technicians.
'Third party Expert Witness' for on-the-job Learning and Competence Assessment, as defined within the Company's Competence Management System.

Experience & Qualifications:
*Relevant industrial experience in the oil & gas industry working as an Instrumentation Technician
*Previous experience in a senior role, leading a team of Control and Instrument Technicians.
*Competence and experience in operation and maintenance, covering a selection of the following:
*Facility instrumentation (inc. Fire and Gas systems)
*DCS-ICSS Process Control (shut-down, start-up, control)
*Turbine, engine, compressor and generator control and management systems
*Information Technology (Hardware, Network, Software systems, Desktop apps)
*Telecoms (Fibre optics, VSAT, Alarms, Digital V&D network, SOLAS, Radio)
*Production and Environmental Metering systems
*CMMS and Work Management Systems (MAXIMO)
*Condition Based Monitoring
*Planned Preventative and Condition Based Maintenance
*Proven ability to lead and manage small teams, and supervise quality work execution.
