Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of H&S Onshore Advisor, based in Aberdeen on a Maternity cover basis.

Responsibilities:
* Provides interpretation, direction and technical health & safety guidance on related legislation.
* Business partners asset teams ensuring timely and effective H & S support, guidance coaching and assurance.
* Health & Safety owner for their asset ensuring documentation is fit for purpose, implemented and effective.
* Regulatory Asset focal point - facilitate onshore and offshore HSE inspection activities, develops response letters for any findings and supports the timely closure of actions. Works alongside Technical Safety group and ensures the correct reporting of any regulatory breach.
* Interfaces with Industrial hygienist (IH) to ensure IH risks are understood and managed.
* Supports the delivery of the Asset Audit & Assurance plan. Working with Offshore HES Advisors, provides oversight of LOD1 self-assurance plan, and tracks LOD2/LOD3 audits for asset and are progressing as per plan. Conducts or facilitates audits and compliance monitoring and supports the development and effective implementation of SMART actions.
* Leads the delivery of the HES Improvement plan objectives including Process Safety Management.
* Facilitates incident investigations in conjunction with the investigation team leader, to deliver effective: investigation; root cause identification; action development and lessons learned.
* Conducts site visits with focus on compliance with procedures and permits, task knowledge and understanding of risk & the mitigations required.
* Analyses data and prepares reports for asset and leadership team review. Owns and facilitates the monthly asset HES meetings.
* Owns and drives cross asset activities, seeks out general HES themes and ensures a common approach to HES workscopes.
* Provides support to Lead Advisors during leave & absence.
* Undertakes any other activities as directed by line manager.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Professional occupational health and safety qualification (minimum NEBOSH Certificate working towards Diploma) or equivalent.
* Supervisory experience.
* Possess a proven knowledge of appropriate HSE legislation/standards.
* Proven competency providing support the offshore industry or hazardous industry onshore
* Knowledge of process safety management.
* Experience of working closely with regulatory bodies.
* Capability to lead and perform management system audits against industry and company standards.
* Competency to lead investigations of significant accidents/incidents.
* Must be self-motivated and capable of organising and prioritising own diverse daily work schedule.
* Possess facilitation skills and excellent supervision skills to positively business partner asset promoting HSE excellence.
* Ability to execute and support wider HSE/Operations programmes and initiatives.
* Must have experience of developing and implementing HSE management systems and or procedures.
* Ability to identify and apply appropriate risk assessment techniques to situations/problems.
* Written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail.
* Required to carry out regular offshore visits.
* Trained Auditor and Trained Incident investigator.
