Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Environmental Advisor, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Lead development and implementation of Decommissioning Programmes, including ensuring the Comparative Assessment, Environmental Appraisal, Environmental Baseline Surveys and all supporting studies are completed.
* Actively seek ways to reduce environmental impact from ongoing projects (i.e. through carbon emissions reduction or increasing re-use of infrastructure) by active engagement with contractors and working cross-functionally internally.
* Manage the Environmental Impacts and Aspects Register for all decommissioning projects.
* Provide day-to-day SHE/Environmental support to assigned business area - additionally, provide occasional cover to other assets and projects, or other parts of the SHE department as required.
* Monitor and provide support / advice on day-to-day performance against legal requirements, KPIs, plans, etc.
* Facilitate and take part in Regulatory Inspections - preparation and follow up. Act as Regulatory focal point for all decommissioning activities.
* Provide support and advice in response to incidents for assigned assets, projects and business areas - advising classification and regulatory implications. Lead, support and participate in investigations as necessary.
* Monitor, support and review inputs/outputs from all Active Monitoring activities - ensure that actions are managed.
* Support and participate in risk assessment activities as required.
* Analyse SHE data and support the business in highlighting and understanding trends. Support the team in developing SHE Plans and specific areas of focus to address any specific issues.
* Act as focal point Advisor for environmental permitting support for UK activities, working in collaboration with SHE Advisor for ESG and Climate Policy. This includes compilation of the PLANC Register for all decommissioning projects.
* Support ISO14001cetification activities and maintenance of the SHE Management System.
* Act as Advisor focal point for waste management activities, this includes managing the disposal / waste contractor and conducting Duty of Care audits.
* Liaise with key contractors to ensure Environmental aspects of contractor performance are monitored and managed. Support contractor selection and management process.
* Provide specialist ER support and participate in response teams as appropriate.
* Lead/take part in SHEMS audits as required.
* Act as focal point, representing the Company and providing specialist advice on specific topics as agreed with Line Manager, including with external stakeholders (e.g. OEUK, Decom North Sea, Step-Change, etc.).
Experience & Qualifications:
* Formal Health and Safety Qualification
* Member of IEMA, IOSH, IIRSM or another appropriate professional organisation
* Experience in a similar position preferred.
