Electrical Technical Authority

The Electrical Technical Authority will act as the site focal point for all technical matters relating to his discipline and the Integrity Assurance process for Electrical equipment.

• Assures the integrity of all electrical systems at site
• Develops, maintains and ensures on-going compliance with systems and processes described within the Group TIM Standard
• Provides technical guidance on the application of codes and standards with respect to electrical engineering
• Approves and documents deviations from mandated codes and standards
• Reviews and approves project procured items within discipline
• Approval authority in the area of expertise for Management of Change proposals
• Approval authority for engineering documents within discipline
• Advises on appropriate performance standards for electrical systems and ensures on-going verification is same
• Approves maintenance strategies, frequency of maintenance and where required the deferral of planned activities
• Approves working and operating practices and procedures in electrical discipline and monitors compliance with these
• Assesses competence of electrical personnel and authorises electrical technicians to operate equipment at site
• Provide mentoring and coaching to Electrical Engineers

Experience/Skills

• Minimum 15 years relevant experience in the design, maintenance and operation of electrical power systems in oil and gas processing facilities
• Full awareness of the MoC procedures applied on the project and the various risk assessment procedures available
• Proven record in application and interpretation of industry codes and standards and HSE policies
• Experience with Hazardous Area Classification and associated standards (EI 151, Atex, etc.)
• Experience with the specification, installation and operation of electrical equipment for hazardous areas
• Proven record in the commissioning and handover of electrical systems from the project into the operational phase
• Experience with industrial power generation and distribution systems, including their specification, installation, testing and maintenance
• Experience with HV and LV Switchgear and Motor Control gear, its specification, installation, testing and maintenance
• Familiar with gas turbine and diesel powered generator sets and a good working knowledge of their control systems
• Familiarity with AC and DC uninterruptible power supply systems, their specification, installation and operation
• Thorough knowledge of electrical protective systems and safety interlocking
• Good working knowledge of HV and LV electric motors, their application and operation
• Good working knowledge of HV and LV electric transformers, their application and operation.
• Experience with Electrical incident investigations and able to lead Root Cause Analysis investigations.
• Working knowledge of reliability assessment and development of maintenance strategies and implementation programs
• Team player with leadership skills in operational support and engineering roles. Ability to positively interact with all field departments, external contractors and equipment vendors
