Job description

We at Orion Group are currently recruiting a Electrical Engineer on behalf of one of our Multinational Medical Device Clients in Limerick to work on a 12-month contract.

Overview
The Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in the successful execution of electrical systems within construction projects. Working closely with the project team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant installation of electrical systems, from design to completion.
This role is responsible for managing and contributing to projects progress throughout the project helping to expedite key activities across function, find solutions to key problems, and communicate project progress, issues and solutions to management and to the project team.
A suitable candidate for this role will have experience of leading end to end capital projects in the field of facilities, utilities and general site infrastructure and will have experience and knowledge of working in a regulated environment (pharma or medical devices).
Key relationships include collaboration with E&PS functions (Real Estate and FM and Service Partners), Facility Maintenance, EH&S, Information and Technology Services and affiliate Engineering Groups across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with partners.

Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project managers and design teams to develop electrical system plans, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
* Provide technical expertise in the design and layout of electrical systems for construction projects.
* Participate in design briefing and engaging in design reviews - ensuring the user requirements are communicated and represented.
* Supervise and inspect the installation of electrical systems on construction sites, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety regulations.
* Collaborate with subcontractors and construction teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues.
* Coordinate closely with construction teams to address any electrical-related challenges and modifications
* Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the integrity and functionality of electrical systems.
* Implement and enforce quality control measures to meet industry standards.
* Champion safety protocols and ensure that all electrical installations meet safety regulations.
* Conduct safety audits and participate in safety meetings to promote a culture of safety on the construction site.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall project requirements.
* Manage project timelines and budgets related to electrical systems.

Education & Experience
* A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required
* Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer in a construction setting.
* In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
* Strong project management and communication skills.
* Prior experience managing a portfolio of small to medium site based capital projects in the field of facilities, utilities and general site infrastructure
* Good understanding of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and adherence to budget and schedule
* Experience from design through startup in a regulated environment
* Experience in contract management of third party project management service provider
