Central Electrical Engineer EV Charging

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer on a contract basis with our client a leading international energy company delivering the future of Electrical Vehicle Charging networks across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the energy transition initiative in electrification for future mobility and solutions. The position will be based in London and has been determined as INSIDE IR35 and therefore is offered on a PAYE basis.

Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer - EV charging Infrastructure will focus on these main tasks:
* Support the Senior Electrical Engineer in sourcing suitable EV charging site Engineering Procurement and Contractor management solutions for the business requirements including identifying, specifying, procurement support, contract management, quality management, order and production schedule management and issues resolution.
* Provides deep technical subject matter expertise and technical support on specific areas (e.g. BEV truck charging solutions, new products and solutions)
* DNO/Grid interface for power supply feasibility, discussions, application, offer assessment, etc.
* Detailed engineering design and verification
* Site support for proof-of-concept activities.
* Standardisation of all requirements in order to scale up successful solutions.
* Identify requirements of EV charging infrastructure in each country and suggest design variations to standard products.
* Provide detailed electrical engineering support to the regions.

Key Accountabilities

The Electrical Engineer - EV Charging Infrastructure will be responsible for providing engineering design and operational support to the global EV charging electrical infrastructure including DNO/grid interface, concept design, detailed design, construction, and operation phases. This role will involve interaction with contractors, suppliers and local project managers while supporting the safe and reliable construction and operation of EV charging infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer will align with priorities set by the Global Delivery Managers for electrical substations and EV chargers' equipment.
Key accountabilities are:
* Compliance with all HSEQ policies in company and local HSE regulations.
* Complete work-related risk assessments.
* Liaise with local contractors and agree on technical requirements needed for electrical power distribution equipment and EV charging stations.
* Liaise with DNO/grid suppliers for power feasibilities, power availability, specific requirements, and input into the design, etc.
* Provide leadership and support on Proof-of-concept activities and new designs
* Conduct power system studies using ETAP or eq.
* Prepare concept designs to be used in Request for Quotation activities with suppliers.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
* Higher education (bachelor's or master's degree) in engineering, preferably electrical engineering or similar.
* Member of a professional body
* Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Pack and electrical design software tools (e.g., ETAP, PowerFactory, DigSilent, or other)

* 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering design works. Experience in the design of EV charging stations or Energy Storage Systems would be valuable.
* Experience managing suppliers and ensuring delivery under either EPC or multi-contract style framework.
* Experience working with DNOs and understanding the connection requirements in relation to distribution and grid code.
* Previous experience in the design and construction of electrical distribution networks up to 33kV will be valuable.
* In-depth knowledge of current UK wiring regulations, British Standards, ENA Standards, and International Standards where relevant to electrical installations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain compelling relationships.
* Proven ability to interact with multiple functions within an organisation to deliver goals, and more broadly, with the functions in the group that are working in the space of project delivery, operations, and procurement.
* Proven track record of performing in high-intensity environments, operating within tight financial resources, and meeting challenging deadlines.
