Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Carbon Removal Chemist with a leading energy company. The position will be based in London on a contract basis.

This role will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of novel chemistry to absorb CO2 directly from the atmosphere, including managing significant interfaces with external organizations and external work packages.
The individual in this role will need to be strongly technical, as well as a skilled communicator, organized, and be able to ensure all areas of the design and test teams receive required data in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities:
Innovation around the chemical formulation and development of a competitive solution.
Key interface with R&T partners on the absorbent development, balancing innovation and delivery.
Manage relationships with R&T suppliers for characterization, testing, and materials compatibility.
Ensure appropriate data is available and communicated to other subsystems to develop the system design.
Ensure appropriate intellectual property protection of the absorbent chemistry.
Work with the deployment team to establish a supply chain for mass production of the chemical.
Develop R&T strategy for future absorbent optimization.

Work related competence:
Chemistry degree or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years' experience in developing and commercializing chemicals-based technology, with a demonstrable track record of delivery.
Understanding of chemical synthesis, process development and scale-up and chemicals supply chain development.
Experience in supervising and integrating external technical work packages and managing R&T suppliers.
Ability to work within an agile, fast-paced environment.
