Job Title: Carbon Capture Reservoir Engineer

Job Category: Subsurface, Reservoir Engineer

Location: Houston (no relocation)

Role Overview: As a Carbon Capture Reservoir Engineer at our company, you'll play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of Carbon Capture field and area plans. Your responsibilities will encompass operation, surveillance, resource progression, risk management, and technology deployment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering disciplines, geoscientists, and finance will be essential to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical analysis and guidance in Reservoir Engineering to support resource identification, evaluation, and progression.
  • Assist in the analysis, appraisal, and development planning of Carbon Capture projects.
  • Ensure alignment of subsurface products with technical expectations for the quality of development decisions.
  • Define and address subsurface uncertainties, developing necessary work products for exploration.
  • Construct models to describe and evaluate various scenarios, utilizing classical and/or numerical approaches as required.
  • Generate development plan scenarios to ensure economic viability and obtain necessary sanctions.
  • Support well planning processes for upcoming appraisal and development wells.
  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate data acquired from appraisal wells.
  • Identify and propose monitoring, measurement, and verification plans for sequestration sites, addressing key risks and uncertainties.
  • Coordinate submissions for Class VI permit-to-construct and permit-to-inject as part of sequestration site development.

Essential Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Several years of experience in reservoir engineering/petroleum engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Carbon Capture projects.
  • Availability for three days per week in the company office (hybrid working environment).
  • Our company does not offer sponsorship for employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions for this role.

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have industry experience in Carbon Capture projects, CO2 flood, EOR, and Class VI permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation, analytical/numerical simulation, and associated reservoir engineering toolkits.
  • Experience in classical reservoir engineering, reservoir management, and field development planning.
  • Familiarity with well and project planning processes, including drilling operations, well evaluations, and facility options.
