To start on or To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent

Senior Procurement Manager with expertise in tendering, negotiating and executing contracts for Turbine Supply Agreements, Solar EPC Agreements and Wind Balance of Plant Contracts to support onshore wind farm and solar construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Capture business demands and handle competitive tendering, negotiation and contract execution for Solar Engineering,. Procurement & Construction Agreements and Wind Balance of Plant Agreements.
  • Negotiate and Execute Turbine Supply Agreements for Onshore Wind Farms.
  • Work with the Global Category Team to tender wind turbine generators for The COMPANY Americas onshore wind projects.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and mitigate complex risk through terms and conditions
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of the wind turbine, solar EPC and wind balance of plant construction services market, and develop and implement strategies to ensure cost effective supply of wind turbines, Solar EPCs and BoP services to meet the build plan
  • Input CAPEX budget numbers to financial models to support project viability assessment.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with the development, construction and engineering leadership teams to support demand forecasting and contracting strategies.
  • Develop tendering and contracting strategies to support The COMPANY Americas Growth Targets.
  • Identify and run due diligence on potential new suppliers
  • Act as the focal point of contact to suppliers in sourcing process and coordinate interfaces with RWE's Business Teams, Finance and Commercial Teams, Technical Teams, Legal Teams and HSE Teams
  • Manage the full sourcing process (including demand/market analysis, RFI, RFPs, Negotiations, Contracting and Supplier Awarding) in close collaboration with key stakeholders and in line with The COMPANY policies, procedures and processes
  • Guide and support stakeholders with any contract implementation, contract management or supplier-related issues
  • Support and guide Procurement Manager's in the team.
  • Maintain active pricing history and data for Wind Turbine Generators, Solar EPCs and Wind BoP's.
  • Manage purchase orders, variations orders, invoice workflow and documentation in SAP
  • Functionally reporting to Head of Procurement, Americas.

Requirements

  • To be based in either Chicago or Austin offices. Remote working not offered for this role.
  • Relevant college degree with preference for Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Renewable Energy Industry with a focus on purchasing wind turbine generators, Solar EPCs and wind balance of plant contracts.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating and contract management of high value and high risk major construction project contracts
  • Knowledge (suppliers, markets, trends) of the renewable energy industry
  • Experience in applying efficient procurement processes, structures and analytical tools
  • Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
  • Ability to challenge "conventional" thinking, considers others' views and convinces with facts considering a proactive approach to overcome resistance
  • Strong eye for detail and ensuring accuracy in exchange of information and contracts.
  • Team player with strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
  • Experience and willingness to work independently in a fast-changing environment and in an international team
  • Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and SAP. Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly.
  • Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally
  • Business fluent proficiency in English. Spanish and German language skills a benefit but not essential.
