Orion help's raise £5000 for Little Emelia-Rose

The Orion Group team are delighted to present a cheque for £5000 for a great cause this week.

Emelia-Rose Wilson has Glutaric Aciduria Type 1 (GA1). Unfortunately her family found out the difficult way when she went crashing from a perfectly normal, happy little 6 month old baby girl to one that has had a metabolic crisis resulting in damage sustained to the Basal Ganglia region of her brain. In short this has left her with dystonia and other motor function defects, she can no longer swallow so is being fed by a gastric feeding tube, she can no longer sit up and she may not talk or walk.

The family have only just started fundraising however the Orion Aberdeen office were delighted to help out with this fantastic cause and are delighted to handover the much needed cash. The money will benefit the family with a number of items in 2016 from helping with the purchase of a specialist pushchair to allowing the family to travel to Slovakia to the Adeli Medical Centre which specialises in neuro-rehabilitation.

Scott Burns-Smith, Marketing & Comms Director at Orion Group commented, “Emilia-Rose’s dad has worked as a contractor with Orion Group for almost 8 years and when our Aberdeen office found out about her story, the whole office were keen to get behind the initial fundraising campaign. We are delighted to help the family and we hope some other organisations will get behind the fundraising as well.”

The money was raised at two Orion Events, the Orion Aberdeen Contractor Night in November and the Inverness Head office Christmas Lunch. Orion Group corporate HQ match funded the staff’s efforts.
