Two of Orion Group’s senior directors are paying a visit to Austria this week and taking part in one of the most influential energy related HR events of its kind.
, Group HR Director and John Pell
, Orion’s CEO for business development are attending the Oil and Gas HR Forum
which is held in Vienna this week. Orion Group will also act as a headline sponsor for the Forum.
The event is attended by senior-level strategic HR professionals responsible for learning and development, training, resourcing, talent management, recruitment, retention and workplace management.
Sector involvement includes those from international and national oil companies, energy and utility companies, universities, non-profit organizations and policy making institutions.
We recently caught up with Ross who will also be giving a keynote speech to attendees. Of his attendance, Ross said: “These events are always great to attend and really beneficial as you get to meet some of the best thinkers and thought-leaders in the industry.
“It is always going to be useful to hear about what your peers are working on and how they continue to make use of new techniques and developments in their various specialisms. I would also like to think that I will leave the event having given those in attendance an awareness on how Orion view the industry and how we make use of best practices.
“I am always impressed with the level of speaker which the event attracts and this year is no different. While others will focus on resourcing and talent acquisition to global recruiting strategies and employee engagement, I will discuss the changing demographic of the E&P industry, as well as giving those in attendance an outlook for 2015 and beyond.
“John and I are both really looking forward to attending and sharing knowledge, making new contacts and discussing the great work which Orion Group continues to do.”
With over twenty years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Ross is an industry professional who has focused his career on staffing related activities. In his current role for Orion he directs HR, marketing and administration functions alongside a number of domestic and international recruitment teams.
Key discussion topics of the 2015 edition of Oil & Gas HR Forum will include tackling the big crew change, mastering global workforce mobility, redefining key components of HR strategy and leveraging the power of collaboration.
This year’s Forum will also focus on HR analytics, workforce planning and overcoming the challenges of virtual working.
