Orion Group, the UK’s leading manpower provider to the oil and gas sector, has continued its commitment to investing in the local community by donating a state of the art Quest 88 Bike worth £10,000 to Drummond School.
It is the second time this year that the recruiter has gifted the school with equipment, having donated a 14 seat Ford minibus in May. The bike was cycled from the Orion Group headquarters in Inverness by the staff as part of a convoy of 15 Orion staff on bikes.
Clare Whiteford, acting head teacher at Drummond School, said: “The Orion Group has been extremely generous to us this year with the minibus and now this bike. We encourage our pupils to be as active as possible and this will be a great help to us in achieving that goal.
“Equipment of this sort can be very costly so we often have to rely on the kindness of companies like Orion Group as we don’t have budget for this sort of thing ourselves. It will make a big difference to the children and I am sure they will all enjoy using it.”
Orion Group chairman Alan Savage added: “Helping out in the local community is high on our agenda and by supporting Drummond School we can improve the experience that these children are getting day-to-day. It’s important for children to exercise as much as possible and the bike donation will help the school encourage them to do it.
“We’re always happy to lend a hand where we can and will continue to do so through donations such as this. We hope the kids have fun and keep fit at the same time.”
