Orion Group, the largest international and independent engineering personnel provider, celebrated the opening of its first South American Office in Rio de Janeiro last night (30 October) with a reception at the residence of Paula Walsh, HM Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Headed up by Chief Operating Officer Gary Benson, the South American office will be of integral importance to Orion Group’s operations in the region. The markets of the Americas are worth a considerable amount to the company, with offices in the region contributing significantly to Orion Group’s worldwide turnover of £355m and surging annual profits of £7.47m which were announced earlier this month.
Mr Benson commented: “We feel extremely positive about moving forward in the region and opening the Brazilian office is a significant milestone. The importance of the South American market cannot be understated and it is important for a company such as Orion Group to have a presence here.
“We are looking forward to progressing with some exciting opportunities here and are confident we have a great team in place with which to do so. Brazil is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and we’ll be there to ensure there is a pool of highly skilled personnel to help sustain this growth.”
Orion Group Chairman, Alan Savage, added: “It is an exciting time for Orion Group. There are a number of projects going on in Brazil at the moment and we’re pleased to be able to do our part in supporting these.
“I am in no doubt that the office will go from strength to strength and we look forward to building our presence in the region.”
