A global leader in staff provision to the engineering sector celebrated recently after one of its senior management team marked her twentieth year with the Inverness headquartered company.
Gail Mackie, 39, director of group admin and payroll services with Orion Group was presented with a gift from Keith Mackenzie, chief financial officer in a ceremony this week.
Gail, who started work with the company aged 19 was alerted to a job in the Inverness office by her mother, herself an Orion Group employee, and has never looked back.
Ms Mackie, said: “My role when I first joined was really just basic filing but I’ve worked my way up through hard work and determination and I’m grateful for the structure of the company which has allowed me to do this.
“I’m in charge of a department of 20 and I couldn’t ask for a better team. I know how it feels to start at the bottom and work my way up and it’s always pleasing to see people who work hard progress through the company.
“I’m proud of my role within the organisation and the job has taken me to some of our international hubs including Houston and Papua New Guinea. It’s always interesting to work in new environments and engage with the local workforce while gaining an idea of the regional payroll and administration systems.”
Alan Savage, chairman of Orion Group, said: “Gail is such a fantastic asset to the team and she is an accomplished leader with two decades of experience in payroll and administration.
“We have a dedicated team working with all our clients to ensure that expectations are not only met, but exceeded, and Gail has been very much part of this. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank her for her dedication.”
