A year in the life of Robert MacIntyre

Taking a trip down memory lane, this year at Orion has seen progression within a number of our industry sectors, from the official opening of our Life Sciences office in Cork, a new business partner within Kazakhstan, to the opening of a new office in Angola. The progression of Orion has also been reflected in the success of our golf sponsor, Robert MacIntyre, a left-hander from Oban commonly known as Lefty to his friends.

The Scottish golfer surpassed the potential that Orion initially recognised him for, having a tremendously successful year on this year’s European Tour. Taking second place within the Made in Denmark event in May and more recently in the Porsche European Open, sixth place finish at The Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, which all contributed towards Robert taking away Rookie of the Year 2019.

Identifying an up-and-coming golfer with potential and with values in line with Orion Group, like Robert MacIntyre, has parallels with the recruitment processes and executive search assignments that Orion Group carries out for clients, identifying not only the talent but someone who is ready for a challenge and who will fit with, and properly represent, a company’s brand and values.

Orion Group works hard to identify exceptional talent, ensuring that we meet with the key decision makers within the organisation to map out the skill sets and experience required for each role. We work in close partnership with our resourcing team and the employer organisation to map out the candidate marketplace and discuss and agree specific target organisations where specific candidates will currently be working. The extensive networks we have built up over the last 32 years allow us to source candidate recommendations from people we trust. This is what differentiates us.

Within the New Year we look forward to continuing our support of Robert’s golfing journey, as Orion look towards another prosperous season, not only in golf, but within the recruitment industry.
