Topsides Installation and Transportation Lead

Orion Engineering Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Topsides Installation and Transportation Lead to join our prestigious client in Qatar. Excellent Day Rates, Living Allowance and Travel Allowance. Working directly for the Operator.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Offshore Installation - Topsides & Sub-sea Structures, you will play a pivotal role in leading the installation contractor on all aspects of load-out, transportation, and offshore installation of Topside Modules. You will ensure all objectives are met and in compliance with the approved scope, budget, schedule, and EPC contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation contractor, ensuring effective execution of load-out, transportation, and offshore installation activities for Topside Modules.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in offshore execution, including module load-out, sea-fastening, marine operations, sea-transportation, and final offshore installation using heavy lift vessels.
  • Act as the focal point for installation engineering analyses, including SPMT Load-out Ballast Plans, Load-out Mooring Design, Grillage and Sea fastening Design, Float-On/Off Operations, Sea-Transportation Analysis, Lift Analysis, and Rigging Design.
  • Evaluate the fitness-for-purpose of proposed methodologies and equipment for load-out, transportation, and offshore installation.
  • Review and approve Contractor documentation to ensure compliance with EPC contracts, company specifications, and relevant codes.
  • Lead readiness review meetings, ensuring equipment, vessel spread, and documentation are on schedule.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, Hazid/HAZOP workshops, and similar activities during the onshore preparatory phase.
  • Manage interfaces with internal departments (Project PMT, Offshore Installation Team, Specialists) and external stakeholders
  • Provide support to site and offshore teams during project execution.
  • Ensure adherence to Company SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) and Quality policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Participate in inspections and audits of vessels, equipment, and materials.
  • Oversee technical aspects of the Risk Management Plan and review/approve design changes.
  • Coordinate all onshore and installation changes, specification revisions, and exceptions following Project Management of Change (PMOC) processes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore oil and gas with a proven track record in leading topsides installation projects.
  • Engineering Degree (preferably Naval Architecture) or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in load-out, sea-fastening, marine operations, sea-transportation, and offshore installation with heavy lift vessels.
  • Strong understanding of EPC contracting principles and experience working with EPC contractors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software.
  • Valid offshore survival certificate and ability to pass an offshore medical evaluation.
